Shit, No Tongue is refreshing to me right now. Four tracks of solid screamo with influences from all around. I wish this wasn’t just a couple of mp3s but a seven inch or something. Definitely worth keeping around.

Red Dream by Ted’s Approval has so much that I want in a release. Like most west-coast bands they push the envelope on hardcore/skramz/whatever. There are elements and influences from a wide range of music subgenres that I can’t accurately describe but here is what I can say. This Release Rules.
There is a little bit of everything that I like, raw emotional vocals, poetic lyrics, screaming, singing, background vocals, weird shit, rad shit, lil bit of sing along spots, a mixture of genres. God damn Driftwood records puts out another awesome record from another awesome band.

Missive is a new band from Sacramento Cali and this release is defiantly pretty amazing. This record is dripping with a mixture of anger, sadness, raw emotion, confusion, introspection and more. Many different voices accompany the lead singer and that is something that I love in a band. The lyrics are also extremely passionate and honest.

I know that this record came out a little bit ago but it is Hides, which means that it is really good. You might forget but I have a special place in my heart for Hides because they were the first band that I reviewed for this blog less than a year ago.
These songs that were released on tape are what we love about Hides. Introspective West coast hardcore/melodic hardcore/whatever. Five songs all less than two minutes long. I don’t know how to express how much I love this band, they are the kind of band where, When I read their lyrics I say to myself, “yeah, I totally understand that!” Maybe it is personal, but you should take 7 minutes out of your life and listen to their tracks.

This album has been siting in my inbox for way too long! Cabin Fire is a two piece in your fucking face screamo/hardcore band. This release is so energetic, raw and wild but also has it’s breakthrough beautiful musical interludes. Well beautiful might not be the word for raw screamo but it does get me on another level. Sounds like it was recorded in someones room and I feel like that is perfect for what the band is going for. Listen to it and then pre order it.

I can’t believe I somehow missed this album, I need to keep up to date on those blogs… Anyways La Bella is a fucking great and unique band. If you don’t like them, you can at least respect that they are not a copy of Touche Amore or Pianos.
Recomposition is rooted in hardcore but has many influences, jazz, latin, punk, etc which make it a truly refreshing record. After you listen to this record check out their self titled which is equally as awesome.
